Music festivals have always been fascinating to me, especially the fashion! I love to see how peoples' everyday style transforms into a festival fairytale version of it. People start to express themselves, and every year there are such amazing looks. From the crochet details on shorts and vests to the different styles of sunnies, festival fashion is definitely the quintessential summertime look. Here are a few sets I've put together for some of the festivals going on this summer! Each different festival has it's own music scene and background so I've styled them accordingly.
Leeds is a festival that takes place in August in England. It's most often referred to as a rock festival, where bands like Foals and Bastille will be playing. I decided to pick this white sundress from Monki because of how carefree it looks along with a floral headband from New Look. Also accessorized with Topshop cutout boots and the Mulberry Alexa bag, this outfit screams british.
Like the Leeds festival, Lollapalooza also takes place in August. However this festival is here in the US, specifically Chicago. The Postal Service, Mumfords and Sons, The Killers and Ellie Goulding are just a few of the amazing acts that will be performing there. For this outfit, I took some inspiration from miss Goulding herself, and opted for some fun leather hotpants. Along with a loose zara blouse, I accessorized with an amazing Mulberry bag and floppy hat. This outfit would be great for watching live music.
The Newport Folk Festival, taking place at the end of July! I went to this festival a couple years ago to see one of my favorite bands, Tegan and Sara, perform. It was almost like a dream! The stages are right on the seaside, and there are local retailers selling everything from bracelets to food. Sadly this year I don't have time to attend, but some great acts will be there including Fiest and The Lumineers. Outfit-wise, I decided to go for something a bit nautical and use neutral colors. Denim is a must have at any festival, so I have paired some topshop dungarees with a collared top and ASOS sandals.
Onto the next festival, The Midi festival taking place on the French Riviera in July. This is a smaller festival, but has some exceptional fashion! Some of their acts include the UK's underground artists like The Horrors and Hebronix. For this outfit, I decided to add some color with these amazing topshop shorts. I have a feeling they were made especially for festival season! I paired them with a Monki blouse, Topshop studded boots, wayfarers and a satchel to carry around any festival goodies!
Coachella; probably one of the most famous festivals. Coachella is one of the most star-studded events of the summer, with celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens and Lucy Hale. Sadly this festival has come and gone this year, but some of the acts included the lovely Ben Howard and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. For this outfit, I chose a flowy smock dress by Mink Pink and paired it with some closed-toed asos sandals and Ray-Ban clubmasters.
Lastly, Glastonbury in June. Hands down, one of the biggest festivals in the world, not to mention it's also on my bucket list to attend! So many of my favorite acts from Beyonce to my love Ed Sheeran have graced the Glastonbury stages. This year some local talent like The 1975 and Example will be playing, as well as headliners like The Rolling Stones and The Arctic Monkeys. For my Glastonbury outfit, I decided to be weather appropriate, and pair some hunter wellies with a denim shirt dress. To accessorize I chose a lovely Mulberry bag, wayfarers and some fun beaded bracelets.
